I'm loving | May

Well, March seemed to fly by and now it’s mid April…opps it’s the begining of May now.  I started writing this in mid April but time seems to be moving very fast for me lately.  My mind gets blown sometimes when I stop to think about how quickly time passes. It’s another reason why I try to absorb the time into little chapters so I don’t feel like it’s just rushing away.

Our lives have been crazy around here lately. With our kitchen, mudroom and laundry room renovation, personal chef work, kids soccer schedules, and laundry…endless. The blog and creating recipes gets the back seat sometimes when my life seems full.

This picture of a simple, small and mighty basil plant brings me joy and hope. Hope for the warmer weather that we will get and pleasure of planting more plants like this one. Also a little reminder of the missing baseboard, lack of fireplace and dirty windows.

Renovation Update: Mudroom/Laundry Room

First of all, I love mudrooms. They are essential to a home (in my opionon) plus having it a combination laundry room helps too.

When we first looked at this home, I really wanted a second floor laundry to make things a bit easier and faster but after living here for 10 months, the location doesn’t bother me anymore. Plus an advantage is our smelly soccer, ski and running gear goes right into the wash upon entering the house.

Key things we needed to have and fix in the mudroom/laundry area to better work for our family’s needs were…

  • more storage
  • place for the dog bowls
  • area to hang dry clothes
  • cabinet for vaccum with a door
  • nice looking smaller sink
  • and more storage

Not only did we need it to be more functional I wanted it to look good – bye bye pink tile and white cabinets. The closet (doors) didn’t work at all, plus I don’t like hanging coats up with hangers when I come in the door. Dealing with hangers isn’t something I love.

So we ripped out the cabinets, tile and the entire closet. It’s amazing how much larger the room feels – almost double the size.

Above are the before photos…below is where we currently are. Need to paint walls and ceiling, have the bench + countertop installed, hang hooks (need to buy them first), maybe tile on the washer + dryer side and finish installing cabinets + lockers.

It’s going to be good. Can’t wait to show you the after.

Supplements I started. And Love.

So I was totally influenced from a blogger I follow to try Modere. Ive been taking all of the above supplements for 1 1/2 months now…I was going to wait until after 3 months to really evaluate things but I couldn’t resist not sharing now.

I was looking for a kick butt collagen, all around great multi vitamin pack and something to help with bloat and random cravings. I know a hard combination…but I think I found it.

Here is what I’m taking.

Trim Lemon + Liquid BioCell Life and Modere Axis Optipack

Here are the details: Taken from their website. Axis OptiPack delivers biologically integrated vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, adaptogens, herbs and omegas, providing daily reinforement for major body systems, while Liquid BioCell Life delivers targeted support to skin and joints, along with Trim to promote fat loss and a learner profile.

I wrote a Kitchen Counter blog post last May, you can read it here. I wrote about how May can be an up and down month for me. In Colorado we tend to have major shifts in weather from cold cloudy and snowy to shorts and sunroofs open. Weather effects me deeply.

Also, historically in my life May has brought major changes in my life. Buisness changes, moving house and personal growth…and guess what? It’s happening again this May.

Buisness changes I know are coming. Not sure what that means, but there is a shift happening and I’m ready for it. Love when you manifest things and small changes start to happen bringing you closer to your dreams.

Delicious recipes from last month.

Books. Let's read together.

Well, in my last Kitchen Counter Talks post, I wrote about starting Lost Roses. Whoa, it was SO good. I couldn’t put it down; sneaking in quick reading sessions wherever I could. Another war story of strong woman. I just love them.

Yes, another war book and again this was a page turning. The German Wife weaves two woman’s lives together in an unthinkable way.

I started The Things We Cannot Say and I’m half way. Again a story of two woman’s lives weaved together across generations and years. I do love books that go back in time and then speed ahead to the future. It can be hard to keep track but for me that makes me want to read the book faster to stay focused and find out the ending.

A quote I recently posted on Instagram.

May, June + July

Will be months filled with growth,

positive change, healing + breakthroughs.

Manifest it all, my friends. Thanks for reading and supporting my blog. Love hearing from you.

Be Well, Kat xoxox
