This simple and quick marinade gives the steak a lot of flavor and helps it caramelize on the grill.

Description

Wow – so much flavor with a simple marinade and quick grill. Serve with a salad and it’s a meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds top sirloin steaks, sliced thinly (Skirt or flat iron steaks work too)
  • 1/2 cup coconut aminos (I use Coconut Secret)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
  • pinch of salt & pepper
  • wooden skewers
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. Place the steak pieces in a glass container with a lid or a plastic bag. In a small bowl, make the marinade. Add the coconut aminos, honey, fish sauce, hot sauce, salt and pepper. Mix to combine. Add this mixture to the container with the steak. Let marinade for 20-30 minutes on the counter.
  2. Meanwhile, soak the wooden skewers in water. This will help prevent them from catching fire and totally burning. A good 10 minutes in the water works well.
  3. Using one skewer at a time, add about 3-4 slices of steak to each skewer. You want to leave room on either end of the skewer to hold them but fill them up.
  4. Heat a grill on high. When the grill is super hot, add the skewers. Cook for 2 minutes on each side. Remove from grill and let rest on a plate. Sprinkle with black sesame seeds and cilantro.
