I'm loving | February
Happy February. This might just be one of my favorite months of the year. Gosh, I feel so refreshed. If you read my last Kitchen Counter blog post, What happened in 30 days – I dive deep into some changes I made…and that’s another reason why I’m feeling refreshed.
I was looking at my calendar for the next 2 months, phew I’m (we) busy. Between work, personal travel, indoor soccer, appointments, parties and dentist + doctor check ups…we are busy! But I figure as long as we have our health and a few fun things to look forward to we are doing something right.
And when I talk about my calendar, many of my friends either laugh or roll their eyes. Let me back up. I have a calendar on my phone but the REAL DEAL is my paper one. It’s a planner of sorts, it’s actually called ‘My Plans for the Year’. I love it. I can see the entire month. I’m not as organized as some with color coding but I’m so visual that seeing everything – it warms my calendar loving heart.
House plants + more house plants.
I’ve got a shopping problem…with house plants. When my husband said that he would like some plants in his office, I went to work. He now has 4. Our living room has 4 and I’m not stopping.
I love how they make a home feel. Brings the outside in, adds new life to the space, dimension and interest. Plus the added color, always helps bring any room together.
Of course, I want instant gratification. I want these plants large and in charge. I may just need this one.
This article is very helpful – especially since I have a spot that doesn’t get direct sun light but NEEDS a plant. I might just need a Sago Palm. Or maybe this one, in our entry way.
And if you think you would kill any house plant in 24 hours, this article has the best places to buy faux plants this year. How cool is this one.
Are you a real plant or faux plant person? And if you have found a faux plant you love, please share with me. I need some good reviews.
Fashion I can support. Shoes.
I bought these sneakers – love then with basically everything.
Such a classic high black boot. I love the brown heal. Plus the price point is perfect.
My favorite Christmas present.
I ordered these just because.
Popular February recipes
In past Kitchen Counter talks, I’ve written about MY mental health and some mental health pick me ups, but I thought I would change it to you. Whether we know it or not, we need to check in on ourselves and people we care about. Less of “How are you doing?” and more of, “I’ve been thinking about you lately and when you made me laugh/feel good/etc. I loved that.” or evening sharing a fun memory. I have enjoyed doing this and see where the conversations go.
Food for thought.
- Make the changes you have been thinking about, now. And do them for the long haul.
- Get outside. Stand in the sun. Absorb.
- Focus on yourself. Don’t compare yourself to others.
- You have to do the work. You aren’t going to wake up tomorrow and be a better version of yourself.
- Talk or write it down.
- It’s a journey. Every single person is at a different part in theirs.
- Thank yourself and be proud.

Books. Let's read together.
I have a stack on my bedside table…just staring at me, begging me to read them. I have some time on some plane trips coming up – which always gets me in the mood to read more.
I finally finished Greenwich Park. I struggled to get through this one. It was very slow for me until the last 75 pages.
I’ve started Lost Roses. And I will probably have to read Lilac Girls.
And I just bought, People We Meet on Vacation.
What have you read recently?
Gratitude.
Here are my TOP 2 recipes from last month. I made them more than once, and I’ll be making them again and again.
Thanks for reading and supporting my blog. Love hearing from you.
